Which numbers to believe and which not to. It stays on the four reports that actually decide something for a business, rather than everything the tool will show you.

  • Users, sessions and views — the difference
  • Where the traffic comes from
  • Pages with traffic, and pages with nothing to show for it
  • Setting a goal and watching it

For when you want to run the campaign yourselves. Every part closes on a real decision about money, and the last two are about when a campaign should be stopped.

  • How an account and a campaign are structured
  • Choosing keywords, and match types
  • Negative keywords — the part that matters most
  • Writing the ad, and its extensions
  • The landing page and the conversion rate
  • Budget and bidding strategy

Where to start

Suggested order

The order we suggest for a team that has just been handed the site — following it is not compulsory.

The suggested path

7 steps · about 6 hours 40 minutes in all

Step 2 of 7
  1. 1 Admin panel
  2. 2 Store
  3. 3 Security
  4. 4 Content
  5. 5 Page builder
  6. 6 SEO
  7. 7 Analytics
Step 2 of 7 Introductory 8 parts · 1 hour 12 min

Managing products and orders in the store

The whole life of an order, from placed to refunded — on the very store we built for you.

5 of 8 parts

After this

4 Writing content Google can find 1 hour · 3 of 8 parts watched
5 Building and editing pages 55 min · not started

You have watched step 3 (account security) — the rest of the path is on the rail above.

The Google Ads guide sits outside this path — advanced, and only if you run the campaign yourself.

Frequently asked

Common questions

The twelve questions asked most often about these guides.

No. They are part of the delivery: whatever we built for you, we also record how to run it. They are there for as long as your account is, and nothing is billed separately.

Anyone you have added under Account, with no limit on the number. Each person's progress is kept separately, so two people can watch the same guide at the same time from different places.

Manage users

For six months after the last contract ends, every guide belonging to your projects stays available. You can also download and keep each guide's summary file right now — that one never expires.

The videos only play inside this panel, but each guide's summary file can be downloaded and carries the same steps, one by one and with pictures. If the connection where you work is unreliable, tell us and we will set a lower playback quality on your account.

A part counts as watched when it plays to the end; skipping ahead does not complete it. A guide's percentage is parts watched over parts in total — so watching a part again does not move the number.

A PDF of several pages with the same steps as the video, a picture of each one and exactly where to find it in the panel. For somebody new who has no time to watch, or to print and keep beside them, it is more use than the video.

Each stands on its own and you can start anywhere. Some need something watched first — which is written in that guide's details — and “Where to start” suggests an order in which no part leans on anything you have not seen.

Any change to how the panel looks or works means the part about it is recorded again. “Recently re-recorded”, at the top of this page, says what changed and when, and a guide that has just been updated is marked in the list.

No. Only that part goes back to unwatched and the rest is untouched, so your percentage drops by exactly one part. If you had finished the guide, you hear about it in your notifications.

Use the “Request a guide” button and tell us what it is about. If it is a short job, support writes it out for you step by step; and if it is something others ask about too, we record a guide and add it to this list.

Do not delete what was working and do not try to undo it yourself — open a ticket and write down what you did. Your site is backed up every night, so there is almost always a way back, and the less it is touched the easier that is.

Open a ticket

Yes. These guides exist so that you can do it yourselves if you want to, not so that you have to. Day-to-day content and product work is in your support contract — open a ticket and it gets done.

Was your answer not here?

There are two ways, and which one is right depends on whether work has stopped.

I want to learn it

Write down what you were trying to do. Support writes it out step by step, and if it turns out to be something others ask too, we record a guide for it.

Answered within one working day

Something is broken

If something has stopped or has to happen today, this form is not the place — open a ticket and it reaches a specialist the same hour.
